Art can often need a lot of care, practice and attention to detail before it gets sculpted into something that feels complete. I love collaborating, performing live and recording/producing new music. Omianan is a creative band from Vancouver, BC, Canada–Nominated for Global Artist of the Year by the 2022 Western Canadian Music Awards. The group consists of vocalist Sara Kim, guitarist Thomas Hoeller, bassist Nikko Whitworth, and drummer Jesus Adrian Caballero. Their debut album "Paper Dream" was released on February 25th, 2022, thanks to the support of the Canada Council for the Arts.

"Doomed" is about unrequited love from three different perspectives. The first and last track are mirrors of each other. I wrote this project in the summer of 2020 and it was recorded over the course of the following year and a half with interruptions due to COVID-19. Thomas Hoeller, producer and collaborator, composed and recorded much of the orchestration and brought the project to life with thoughtfulness and creativity. The second track, "Closeness" was selected to be part of the Mix By Mail program in the Spring of 2021 with MaryJane Hifi (Vancouver, BC). Mary and Jane produced, engineered and mixed the track along with Thomas. Many fantastic musicians lent their talents and sensitivity to these tracks and I thank them immensely for their contributions. "Doomed" was mastered by Elisa Pangsaeng of CPS Mastering (Vancouver, BC).

I played guitar on and mastered this project and was a member when the first iteration of the band (four of us) all invented and practiced the hardest riffs we could imagine together inside of one of the drum modules at Capilano University in the Jazz Program. Hot and sweaty odd time signature riffs in a soundproof cubicle with friends. Then Wylie Ferguson took the project to a whole new level putting this ensemble together and writing some of the most challenging compositions I've ever had to play. For the record, I like more toppings on my pizza ; )

I played guitar parts on a couple tracks from Oatmeal Queen's solo record, Martian. This is an amazing concept album made in the early part of the Covid 19 pandemic that might make you cry.

Teeming with celestial synths and heartfelt proclamations, Martian is led by Pendharkar’s eclectic, layered vocals and reflective lyrics. At times reminiscent of Lucy Dacus and at others of Mitski or Alabama Shakes, the record is narrative, unpredictable, and complex without sacrificing its playfulness.

This band is another very challenging and fun project I've been lucky to be a part of. The genre being sort of a big band playing avante-garde jazz and metal. Imagine a jazz big band with two drummers, two guitarists, synth and electric bass.. The result is loud, exciting and magnificent.
